Today’s Devotion
Topic: It’s Time to Pray
Text: 2 Chronicles 7: 14
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Amen
Experiencing the intervention of God in any difficult situation is something everyone would gladly welcome. But the truth is that His intervention is not automatic.
A renowned man of God once wrote that “God is limited to what He can do for humanity until somebody prays, and prayer is very crucial for daily triumph.” Indeed, to engage God’s hand to turn situations in our favour, we MUST PRAY.
Today’s scripture outlines a few notable points as follows:
1) Effective prayer is done by people who are called by God’s name. It is those who have received Jesus as Lord and Saviour that can stand in the gap and pray to see things turn around.
2) The people of God must come to the point of humility where they trust no one else but God to bring about the desired change. We must recognize Him as the source of every good and perfect gift we desire.
3) We must make conscious and deliberate efforts to pray and seek God’s face. We must not leave prayer to chance or leisure.
4) We can not expect God to visit us in our filth. We must, as a matter of urgency, turn from our wicked ways. It is sin that makes the arm of God appear to be too short and His ears deaf to hear us.
When we do these, the Almighty God who reigns in the affairs of men promises to intervene from Heaven with forgiveness and healing for our lives, families and land.
Beloved, are you called by God’s name? Then stop complaining and begin to pray until you see a change in that uncomfortable situation.
In all you do, keep Jesus at the centre of it all. Click: https://youtu.be/riDXGPkGxHg
