Topic: Is There Any Righteous?
Text: Genesis 6:12 (NIV)
God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. Amen
The uncontrollable desires of man to acquire excessive earthly possessions, as well as achieve self actualization at all costs, tempts us to sin without remorse.
The Lord looks down from heaven to see if there is anyone that understands and seek Him, but all have turned aside and together have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. (Psalm 14:2-3)
Precious one, the dorminance of sin in our world today make us question if there is anyone that is righteous? Yes there are, and they are many. Just as God told Elijah that He has preserved several other prophets for Himself, so are there some men and women whose knees have neither bowed down to Baal nor kissed him.
All who receive the Lord Jesus as personal saviour are translated from darkness to God’s marvelous light. They are then justified by God, through faith and sanctified by the blood of the lamb. They become a chosen generation, a holy Nation and God’s own special people.
This righteousness we talking about is not due to our works, lest anyone should boast, it is a gift from God. God knows sin will make us fall short His glory so He’s given us His word to guide us. David told God, “your Word have I hidden in my heart, that i might not sin against you”.
He has also made provision should we sin. We have a High Priest (Jesus) that intercedes for us. He forgives us our sins and retores us back to the righteousness of God.
Brethren, let us remember that own righteousness is like a filty rag before God. We can’t rely on our own abilities anymore. Begin to desire this gift of righteousnes, ask God for grace to be more like Him.
Beloved, as we prepare for a new month, please remember the words of king David when he said of the godly, “But know that the Lord has set apart the godly for Himself, the Lord hears when I call to Him.” ( Psalm 4:3). He also said, “The Lord is righteous, He loves righteous deeds; the upright shall behold his face.” (Psalm 11:7). In all our doings, let righteousness lead.
