Iron Sharpens Iron

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Iron Sharpens Iron
Text: Proverbs 27: 17

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. Amen

When a blacksmith will mould any metal, he first of all heats it up in hot fire and then beats that metal into the desired shape using a heavy hammer made of steel (which is also a metal).

Also, cooks do not stress so much in the kitchen when they discover that the kitchen knife they usually use has become blunt. What they do is to rub the edges of the two knives together till they sharpen each other. By this time, the cook will have two useful sharpened knives not one or none.

As the edges of two kitchen knives automatically sharpen themselves when we rub them against each other, so it is that any two individuals or groups who will engage often for a common purpose influence each other directly or indirectly.

When your companions or colleagues are sharpened, they invariably sharpen you too, with time. Their organised lifestyle, discipline and knowledge is transfered to you till you become as SHARP as they are.

We learn from each other unto perfection. So that those who are STRONG in certain areas in life can help the weak in those same areas become better and vice versa. That is why you must choose your companions carefully. They must be people who bring out the best in you.

Unless you don’t agree that you deserve to be best that God created you to be; because if you do, you “will not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers” (Ps 1: 1). Those who do, become just like them because “bad company corrupts good character (1 Cor 15: 33).

Simply keep as friends those who inspire your faith unto righteousness and your life unto higher grounds. They will keep you sharpened for every good work to the glory of God. You can also be an iron who sharpens those around you too.

Do not relent to make a positive impact on the people you meet everywhere you go. Jesus will use your life that way to bless others but first allow Him to sharpen you. Begin to pray now. As we commence a new working week today, ask that the fire of God makes you active for evey good work. May someone find inspiration from you today, to become a much better person in life because they encountered in you the life saving Jesus, who never fails.
