How Much Is Enough?

Today’s Devotion

Topic: How Much Is Enough?

Text: Ecclesiastes 5: 10

10 He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. Amen.

This is a question that we must continually ask ourselves as children of God. The verse above literally refers to our quest for money. Solomon, the richest and the wisest man that ever lived on the earth makes a profound statement that silver, and (or) its abundance, cannot satisfy those who chase after it without God.

How long will we defer the divine assignment in pursuit of our own goals? How much more time do we need before we respond to the divine call? How much  “money” can you make to be satisfied?

You see, our quest for money and materials things in life must not be a hindrance in fulfilling the will of our heavenly Father. On the contrary, we receive true satisfaction when we do the will of our Father.

In 1 Timothy 6:6-7, Paul said to Timothy that, “godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”

The best way to go therefore  is to seek first the kingdom of God and its righteousness and; all these things shall be added to you (Mat 6: 33). Meditate on this word and begin to pray. Ask that grace causes you to chase after God with all your heart and then to help you work diligently with your hands. The rest belong to God.

He will move mountains in your favour and level valleys for your sake. He will shake the heavens and the earth to prove to you that it is His blessings that makes rich, and He adds no sorrow to it (Prov 10: 22). He is the “much” that confirms your every gain as enough.

“Now, He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness” (2 Cor 9: 10); if you will acknowledge Him in all that you do. Do not join the “rat chase” to success, choose God.
