Topic: He’s The Lord, So Let Him Be Lord!
Text: 1 Samuel 3: 18
18 So Samuel told him everything, hiding nothing from him. Then Eli said, “He is the Lord; let him do what is good in his eyes.” Amen
When a child wants something, he/she wants it his/her way and in his/her own time. Anything contrary is not acceptable. As they grow and consider a lot of other factors before making demands, we say they are maturing. However, with time, when we see that they are not only looking at their interest but trying to understand and respect the sovereignty of the people they encounter, we say they are Matured.
One day at Shiloh, in a time where revelations, visions and dreams were rare in Israel, God decided to speak but to a child. He called Samuel three times and on each occasion, the lad run to Eli the high priest and inquired if he was the one calling.
Eli, took advantage of the persistent nature of the call to teach young Samuel the art of hearing from God. When the voice echoed Samuel’s name again, he said “speak Lord, thy servant hears”. Then God told him all the things He was going to do against the house of Eli because the wickedness and blasphemy of Eli’s sons.
By morning, Eli asked Samuel to let him know everything the Lord had said. Samuel told him. IT WAS NOT A FAVOURABLE MESSAGE TO THE HOUSE OF ELI. But you see, Eli was matured in the things of God. He said to Samuel; “He is the Lord, Let Him do what is good in His eyes.
Beloved, that was a very matured position Eli took. Instead of agitating and telling all Israel how disappointed he was in God, He decided to honor the sovereignty of the Lord.
Do you remember that day at Gethsemane? Jesus prayed and said, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” (Luke 22: 42). Honestly, the demands of the cross was more than He could bear. He wished for an alternative but maturity allowed Him to honor the sovereignty of God by saying “not my will but yours be done”.
Precious One, the life of the righteous is ordered by the Lord. Those who follow Him must understand that things may not always go their way. THAT’S WHAT MAKES HIM GOD. Let us all mature to the point where we can submit to His will and not question His sovereignty.
Begin to pray now, ask the Holy Spirit to open the eyes of your heart to understand the deep things of God. That way, your matured heart can accept His Will even if it is contrary to your hopes. HE IS THE LORD SO LET HIM BE LORD OVER YOUR LIFE! Kindly click, watch and be blessed: https://youtu.be/iUgO9TNlx5A
