This is a great Saturday. A perfect atmosphere for the study of the Word and meditation. Kindly read the passage below and share the revelations the Holy Spirit gives you with us.
Text: Romans 15: 1-3, 5-6
15 We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. 2 Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. 3 For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me. 5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, 6 so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Questions:
i. According to vrs 1, believers who are strong ought to bear with the failings of those who are weak. With other references from the bible, who will you describe as a Strong or Weak believer?
ii. In what practical ways can a strong believer bear with the failings of the weak?
iii. Vrs 2 and 3 encourage us to live to please our neighbours for their good, to build them up. Explain how we can do that without living a double standard life that seeks to please others and not God.
iv. Can a strong believer today become a weak believer tomorrow and vice versa? What are the conditions that can make that possible?
v. Galatians 6: 1 says “.. if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted”. In what ways can a strong believer trying to help a weaker one fall into temptation? How can this strong believer watch himself to prevent this from happening?
vi. In vrs 5, Paul prays that God gives us the same attitude of mind towards that which Christ had. Why is this essential for the church of God?
vii. What have you learnt from today’s study?
