Topic: He Knows You!
Text: Jeremiah 1: 5
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Amen
Here we are again. We can go on and on the whole day talking about how hypocritical others can be; occasionally lowering the standard for their own interest. The huge question however is, who among us does not?
Do we not set the rules at home and office and flout them sometimes? Do we not teach the love of God and struggle to forgive some of our offenders? Do we not sit in church and hate the pastor to the core? Do we not wake up occasionally and hate our jobs as pastors or church workers and wish we had not accepted the call in the first place? Yet wear the broadest unnatural smile as if we love to serve God’s people with every fiber in us?
What about the traffic regulations we disobey every now then and the bribes we gently hand to the authorities so they don’t turn us in? And the exam malpractices and misconduct? The list can go on and on. So yes, for being hypocritical, we all could be.
The important issue however is what God thinks of our hypocrisy and the provision if any, to make us better people that are progressively conformed to His nature and likeness.
You see God! He knows you. He knows every little detail about you. He told Jeremiah, “before I formed you in the womb, I KNEW YOU”. He knew you will be insecured in your heart about many things, He knew that this day, you will struggle to make ends meet. He knew you will be misled by peers into abusing drugs, He knew you will be involved in some same- sex situations, He knew you will be unfaithful to your spouse, He knew you will live a double standard life.
HE DIDN’T CREATE YOU THAT WAY, BUT ALREADY KNEW YOU WILL STRUGGLE WITH THE WEAKNESSES YOU’RE BATTLING WITH RIGHT NOW. YES THIS VERY ONE THAT YOU HAVE HIDDEN FROM YOUR SPOUSE, PARENTS AND FRIENDS. HE KNEW YOU WILL BE SO BECAUSE OF THE ADAMIC NATURE. ALSO BECAUSE OF SOME BAD CHOICES AND NEGATIVE INFLUENCES DESIGNED TO GET YOU OFF HIS PLAN. HE KNOWS YOU. INSIDE-OUT, HEAD-TO-TOE.
You remember that, that same day He was writing the 10 commandments for the Isrealites and saying ‘do not worship any other gods apart from Me, that very minute, Isreal was busily worshiping the golden calf (Exodus 20; Exodus 32). That is why He made provision in the tabernacle for the blood of sheep and goats to atone for those who fell short of His commandments.
Our dispensation is a very blessed One indeed. We have an advocate in Jesus Christ, who sits at the right hand of the Father interceding on our behalf day and night (Rom 8:34). His love teaches us to say NO to all forms of ungodliness. He offers salvation so rich yet free to all who are willing (Titus 2: 11- 14). It is therefore your own excuse to continue dwelling in sin with the justification that God already knows you will sin.
Why don’t you lay it all at the feet of Christ, all your struggles and frustrations. He says my POWER is made perfect in your weakness; so that when you are weak, then in Me, you are strong (2 Corinth 12: 9- 11). Begin to pray to the God who does not only know you; but also is the perfect remedy for your every difficult circumstance. His name is Jesus and He will help you.
He is the Life you need and the treasure you seek. Imperfect as we are, In Him we translate from darkness to light and become known as the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD. What a privilege!
