Topic: He Is Faithful To His Word!
Text: Genesis 21: 1- 2
1 Now the Lord was gracious to Sarah AS HE HAD SAID, and the Lord did for Sarah WHAT HE HAD PROMISED. 2 Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at THE VERY TIME GOD HAD PROMISED HIM.
A survey to ascertain those who do not know of the Lord’s faithfulness to His word is likely to yield few or negative results. It is almost as if He will never say what He will not do. If He said it, then He will do it. There are no two ways about it.
One day three men stood nearby while Abraham was sitting at the entrance of his tent in the heat of the day under the great trees of Mamre. He hurriedly met them, bowed low to the ground and invited them in to wash their feet and rest under the trees with him.
He also got his servents to prepare the choicest calf while his wife Sarah baked some bread. Before long, these three strangers were served with the prepared meal and some curds and milk for dessert.
“While they ate, he stood near them under a tree. “Where is your wife Sarah? They asked. “There in the tent,” he said. Then the Lord said ” I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.” (Gen 18: 8b- 10a). And it came to pass just as the Lord had promised them. You see, God is not a man that He should lie. He said to the Isrealites:
“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, So is My word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55: 9- 11).
Therefore cheer up. Do not give up on the Lord so easily. He is not giving up on you at all. His word is ever faithful and ever sure. Every promise you received from His Holy Word is yours for the taking if you believe. Begin to pray now. Pray back His promises to Him, let Him know you’re holding on to them like a little child. It cannot return to Him void until it has accomplished what He sent it to do in your life and family.
The other day, the Lord said something profound through Ezekiel the prophet. He said “But I the LORD will speak what I will, and it shall be fulfilled without delay. For in your days, you rebellious people, I will fulfill whatever I say, declares the Sovereign LORD.” (Ezekiel 12: 25).
Even now Lord, we hold on to your promises, fulfil them in our lifetime in Jesus name.
