Today’s Devotion
Topic: Happy Mother’s Day To All Our Special Women!
Reading: Exodus 2: 1- 10.
Text: Exodus 2: 10.
10 When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaoh’s daughter and he became her son. She named him Moses, saying, “I drew him out of the water.” Amen.
There are four different orientation of women in the reading provided above, yet they all demonstrated remarkable love towards baby Moses. Although Moses at that time had no idea how special he was to have been found among such wonderful women.
First is the woman who gave birth to him. She saw divine mandate upon him and refused to let Pharoah take his life. Did all she could as a wonderful mother to hide him. When she could do that no more, she got a protective basket and placed the boy by the nile.
The second woman is pharoah’s daughter who had no biological ties with the baby she found at the nile. But had compassion for him and raised him as her own. Gave him the life of a prince though he was born a slave.
The other remarkable woman is the female slave of pharaoh’s daughter who actually drew close to the basket and found the baby. Her status as a slave wouldn’t limit her from contributing her quota for baby Moses.
Finally, Moses’ biological sister who kept watch over him though from afar till rescue came. Then mastered courage and suggested a hebrew nursing mother for the baby.
Pharaoh’s daughter would agree and the baby ends up with his biological mother who now is put on salary for nursing him.
You see that all these wonderful women demonstrated oneness of heart, mind and effort for the poor baby Moses who should have died. They all contributed to saving and raising him to become who God wants him to be.
They had different orientations yes, and were also of different ages and classes, yet united at heart and purpose, they all contributed in raising a simple baby till he had a future.
That is why we can not over emphasize our love and gratitude for all women on a special day like this. All women, yes, especially those who fear God.
Theirs is a special case because they do not just raise their wards, but train them in the way they should go so that when they grow, they wouldn’t depart from it.
To that we say, ayeekoo and God bless you so much for the enormous love and care given us. We ask for long life with good health and prosperity.
We appreciate you so much and will definitely keep doing more to show. A joyful MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION TO ALL WOMEN!
