Today’s Devotion
Topic: God’s Love; No one can deny!
Text: Hosea 14: 4
“I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely, For My anger has turned away from him.” Amen
The soul that is backsliding is like a person drowning in a river. He or she may be gesturing as if they’ve got the skill to swim to safety, but are actually dying. Until a rescuer reaches him or her on time and helps them ashore, they will lose all control and die.
If life was a great river flowing into the mighty ocean, (which we shall call the unknown future), then we are pleased to introduce to you the best Rescurer and life guard captain of all time- Jesus Christ of Nazareth. No one can deny the fact that this chief rescuer’s hand is always at work in the life of each believer. Pulling us to safety each time we fall into the storms of life, or into miseries of sin that should lead to eternal condemnation.
His love quickens our souls when we are overshadowed by the surging waves and are ready to give up. Especially, at that very point where our daily devotions in Word, prayer and obedience are stale and all attempts to rescue ourselves prove futile. He shows up just in time and saves us from drowning.
As a matter of fact, the Lord Jesus is always there to pick us up when we fall. He can never be unconcerned about the choices we make and the consequences they bring. As long as we take responsibility for our actions and call on His name, He delivers us and heals our backsliding hearts.
In His rescue missions, He never discriminates. It doesn’t matter if an individual is drowning because they disobeyed Him and left the boat of safety He provided for them. He is not interested in knowing why you attempted to swim without a life jacket. He’s not worried that, like Peter, your faith got so small along the way, and instead of fixing your eyes on Him while walking on the sea, you rather got distracted by the waves, and now you’re drowning.
He stretches His hands to you right now. Well, not only to rescue you but also to fully restore you to Himself. Apostle Paul explains it better when he says, “God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ, and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus”. Halleluyah! (Ephesians 2: 4- 7)
What a relief, what an assurance! So now, by your confession, rise up again; don’t backslide, get back up again! Ask for strength to overcome the temptations of sin that easily cause your fall. Offer your life as a living sacrifice, a pleasing offering to God. ABIDE IN HIM AND LET HIS WORD ABIDE IN YOU!
Guided by the Captain of Israel’s host and the guide of all who seek the Land above, our redeemed souls will ride peacefully in the boat called Faith till we reach our final destination – Heaven. There, we shall enter the joy of our Lord forever and ever. Our rescued lives are never the same again, in Jesus mighty name.
Life is a journey whose many paths we must all tread. Let us learn to pray for, and support one another along the way. Click: https://youtu.be/JGJrl0m1f8Q
