Today’s Devotion
Topic: God Will Take Care Of His Own!
Text: Psalms 37: 25
I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. Amen
It is only natural that people consider the pros and cons of a project of interest before embarking on it. Often, we tend to look at what we stand to gain or lose if we take this decision or that decision.
The question of what we stand to gain if we (Christians) relentlessly take a stand for Christ and refuse to compromise on our faith is one that needs to be addressed thoroughly. Especially as we find ourselves growing up in a “crooked and perverse generation.”
King David had risen from the humble beginnings of keeping his father’s flock in the wilderness, through playing the harp for a tormented king, and much later, being crowned king of Israel. He had experienced harsh conditions as well as favourable ones and had come to the conclusion that the Almighty God will neither let the righteous nor their children lack any good thing in this life.
The righteous are those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and personal Saviour. They are not perfect, but they trust God to “work in them to will and to act according to His good purpose.” (Philippians 2:13)
For all such people, the Word of God says, “In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty. If the LORD delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumbles, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with His hand.” (Psalms 37:19, 23 &24)
Beloved, take heart. The economic situation may be hard on you, but decide to never give in to any ungodly means of survival. You are not alone in your stand for righteousness; your God has promised to fend for you.
Begin to pray now, thank God for His word. Ask for grace to always remember that He’s already provided, even when there’s nothing to show for.
Pray with the spiritual song “Never failed me yet 2*, Jesu’ love, has never failed me yet. There’s one thing I know, everywhere I go, Jesu’s love, has never failed me yet”.
