Topic: God Will Always Stand By His Word!
Text: 1 Chron 7: 21b -24
21b. Ezer and Elead were killed by the native-born men of Gath, when they went down to seize their livestock. 22 Their father Ephraim mourned for them many days, and his relatives came to comfort him. 23 Then he lay with his wife again, and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. He named him Beriah, because there had been misfortune in his family. 24 His daughter was Sheerah, who built Lower and Upper Beth Horon as well as Uzzen Sheerah. Amen
Sometimes the circumstances or situations we find in our lives are very contrary to the promises that God has given. This often makes it difficult for us to keep trusting God for the very miracle He’s told us to expect.
You remember how God promised Abraham, a childless ‘father’ who was also advanced in years that He will make him a father of many nations. This sounded so impossible in the eyes of men, especially when all the odds were against them. But the faithfulness of God made it come to pass with time.
Another of such great promise was Ephraim, second son of Joseph. His grandfather Jacob was careful to give him the highest blessing over his senior brother Manasseh, when he (Jacob) placed His right hand on Ephraim and said though the youngest, Ephraim would be greater than his elder brother Manasseh. He also said the seed of Ephraim will become a multitude of Nations.(Genesis 48:19).
Such a powerful blessing that is. However, when Ephraim became older, He lost his two sons in one attack that left him devastated for several days. The prophesied generational blessing upon his life now appeared to be a lie. His house had now turned into a mourning home and his family hopes, shuttered beyond repair.
However, when he laid with his wife again, God blessed them with another son from whose loins the promise was fulfiled. His daughter Sheerah, built two cities (1 Chron 7: 24) and from their descendants came Joshua, the great leader who led the people of God to the promised land. (1 Chron 7: 27).
Precious One, circumstances can never alter the plan and purpose of God. Keep all hopes alive. Even though it tarries, hold on for it will surely come to pass. God is able to restore comfort to the mourner and make him glad according to the days he was afflicted. Such that in the end, He rather lost nothing at all, but only his mouth filled with praises to the God that always stands by His word.
Begin to pray now. Today begins a new working week. Do not let the challenges of the past weeks bring you down. Your God is still able to do exceedingly abundant; above all you could imagine. Hold on to His promises, HE WILL ALWAYS STAND BY HIS WORDS, NO MATTER THE STORM.
