Today’s Devotion
Topic: God Is My Witness
Text: Romans 1: 9- 10a
9 God, whom I serve in my spirit in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness how constantly I remember you 10 in my prayers at all times. Amen
Many of us are troubled by many things. Some are confronted by challenges that require nothing but the supernatural to solve. Others receive too many threats and attacks in their dreams than the mind is ready to unravel.
What we often like to do, is to share these problems with our Pastors, Spiritual Leaders or so called Christian Brothers and Sisters who assure us of prayer support. We believe them, so we go to sleep.
Unlike Paul who could call on God as a witness to the fact that He is constantly praying for the church in Rome, most of these spiritual brethren we share our problems with may not necessarily remember them after you are gone.
This may not necessarily be because they are insensitive to your problem but rather because they have other responsibilities that shift their attention or that they really do not care as much as they make you believe they do.
If you were to throw a challenge to them today, only a few can confidently say like Paul did, “God is my witness, I pray for you”. The rest may be forced to lie to you to save their image.
However, you know we cannot blame them at all, don’t you? What happened to your own prayer life? Why don’t you seem to believe scripture when it says “when we pray He hears us”(1 Jh: 5: 14)? Why do you always believe God will listen to others and not you?
Meanwhile Jesus has taught that, “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer” (Mat 21: 22). He also says, “whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son” (Jh 14: 13). What other motivation will you need to believe that the Word of God is true and that our God is a prayer answering God?
Begin to pray now. Pray all your problems to God like there are no intercessors backing you up. Yet believe in your heart that the Host of heaven is fully with you. “Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervour, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer” (Rom 12: 11- 12). FOR GOD STILL ANSWERS PRAYER AND YOU ARE NEXT IN LINE FOR HIS TOUCH.
You can only trust your own prayer more so don’t stay away from church only to ask those going to pray for you. They may not. Come with your own petition, praise & worship. Jesus WILL FIX YOU ANEW. See you at church.
