Topic: Forgiveness
Text: Matthew 6: 14-16
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Amen
There are offences in the world. People delibrately or otherwise step on toes. Friends and family may lie to you, hurt you with words or simply abandon you when you need them. It hurts so bad you would never want to let go. Jesus says FORGIVE.
Sometimes we decide to forgive anyway and let go but are afriad our offenders will interpret that to mean weakness. So we openly show our toughness by being unforgiven. Jesus says “vengeance is mine.” Just forgive!
The Master encourages that we forgive our offenders simply BECAUSE we also tresspass against them. We equally step on toes, we hurt people with our words, we are not always there when they need us, we equally think it is weakness if people show open forgiveness when we offend them.
The effect then is what we see around us today, a world FULL of hate and bitter sentiments. The condition for having our sins forgiven by God therefore, is to forgive one another. Those who apply this truth are always happy, free from bitterness and gloom of our world today.
From today, let’s practice forgiveness. We have all to gain and nothing to loose when we let go. Begin to pray for grace to be tolerably and thoughtful in our dealings with all men so we forgive easily and don’t go on offending one another.
We love Him because He first loved us. Be blessed by this song: https://youtu.be/vD_H1tQwp9c
