Food For The Journey!

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Food For The Journey!
Text: 1 Kings 19:7-8 (NIV)

7 The angel of the LORD came back a second time and touched him and said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.” 8 So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God. Amen

The energy to go about our daily activities is paramount to us all. Lack of food or the inadequacies of a balanced diet can be life-threatening.

Famine or hunger is one huge natural disaster that can halt the socio- economic growth of any country, since the citizens first and foremost need to be fed well before they can contribute their quota effectively to national development.

As we are aware, because food contributes significantly to our quality of life, we must always be mindful of the kind of food we eat. We must critically examine the food to make sure it is not the type to poison or kill us.

Even as physical food is good for physical growth, so is the Word of God essential for the nourishment of our lives (both physically and spiritually, it also has eternal value). It is the “healthiest” food for your soul.

Jesus is the WORD OF GOD. He’s the manna given us by the father for growth and strength. He is the bread of life, the river of life, the one who fed thousands. He gives strength to the weary and quickens our mortal bodies through the Holy Spirit. In Him is the embodiment of wisdom to guide you through life.

Brethren, you need to feed on the Word of God day and night. Especially as the enemy pursues you like she(Jezebel) did pursue Elijah. You will receive strength to outrun chariots. You will run and not go weary, walk and not faint. Where mountains fall, you will stand.

This is not a religious cliche, IT IS THE TRUTH! Don’t be left out, don’t starve your spirit till you become an easy prey to the devil. Pray for grace to understand the Word of God as well as to put it to practice.
