Topic: Favour With The Lord
Text: Luke 1: 30
30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. Amen.
One day an angel visited a virgin called Mary and said “greetings, you are highly favoured. The Lord is with you.” Mary became greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God.
Favour with the Lord? Is that not what we all desire and pray for? To know that you have heaven’s full backing in your going in and your coming out. Is that not the place we all want to be?
Think about it carefully, for to be called highly favoured of the Lord is to be on God’s priority list as far as His agenda and purpose for mankind is concerned, and that is wonderful.
To all such, the Holy Spirit overshadows them to produce excellence for the King. They may not look or act special in anyway but the favour of the Lord distinguishes them among the lot. And His seal on their lives is undebatable.
Although scripture didn’t specify why Mary was so favoured by God, her piety, humility, fear of God and dedication to His service is seen throughout the gospels where she is mentioned. Highlights include:
Her viginity before marriage, ability to say to the angel “I am the Lord’s servant, may it be to me as you have said. Even her ability to remain calm even when Joseph was considering divorcing her quietly (Matthew 1: 19). And also her commitment to follow all religious obligations expected of her and her husband as far as the baby Jesus was concerned.
She was also very much with her son throughout His life and ministry. Making sure that the special gift God gave the world through her was well catered for. She was there when He performed His first miracle. She was there when He died and was burried. She was there after the resurrection. She was there the whole time. She was even constantly found with the other apostles, labouring with them to continue the spread of the gospel even after the ascension of Christ (Acts 1: 14). Amazing; no wonder she was highly favoured of the Lord.
Beloved, kindly tell all who desire favour from the Lord to also desire:
*The fear of God: Which attracts divine wisdom, illumination, direction and guidance.
*Humility: Which brings exaltation and
*Purity: Which attracts divine excellence, blessings and grace.
Begin to pray these three virtues in your life Beloved. 2021 must see you highly favoured of God, both in your coming in and going out. Pray out all those vices that make you compromise on the fear of God.
Just as it was with Mary, the Holy Spirit will come strongly upon you and the power of the Almighty shall overshadow you for exploits in the coming year. You will stand out for glory in all things excellent. Click: https://youtu.be/WP1VT4e0uVM
