Today’s Devotion
Topic: Extend A Hand
Text: Galatians 6: 1-2
Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. 2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ. Amen
A story is told about three great friends; the Parrot, tortoise and the creeping plant. One day the parrot in a good mood decided to sing out so loud. Then the tortoise said to the creeping plant, “tell the parrot to be quiet before somebody wicked notices us!'”.
The creeping plant answered “if he wants to shout, that is his problem, not ours!” Not too long after, a hunter spotted the parrot and shot at it. It fell from the top of the tree and landed on the back of the tortoise who was beneath the tree by then.
“Lucky day!” the hunter exclaimed. “One shot for two.” Then he cut the creeping plant and used it to tie the parrot and the tortoise. Then tortoise said to the creeping plant, “I told you to ask him to be quiet, now see where we have ended!”
Today’s message is simple. Don’t be like the creeping plant and act unconcerned. You can never be sure how someone’s careless action(s) can affect your life.
Extend a hand to someone in need, help restore the sinner back to God, Love the lonely and become their company, tell the broken hearted that Jesus cares, tell the lost…. it is time to come back home. God will use your life to show that HE CARES.
Don’t act unconcerned, care for the needs of your neighbour. Pray that God makes you firmly rooted in Him so that you can help many others know Him.
