Topic: Excuses To The Call!
Text: Exodus 4: 10- 11
10 Then Moses said to the Lord, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” 11 So the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord? Amen
If God could ‘suffer’ any terrible fate, it would be the excuses we give Him day and night. He is the Almighty, the One who knows about the End right from the Beginning. Yet when He instructs, we often doubt our ability to measure up to His Word and immediately feel He’s making a mistake.
Very often than not, we ask the Lord for a word regarding our purpose in life. We also plead with Him to keep us in His will and to show the way. Yet, just when the Lord reveals that our purpose is to love and serve Him wholeheartedly, and also walk in the path that He will lead, we come up with a tall list of excuses why it is a wrong decision for Him to choose us for that particular assignment. “Maybe He doesn’t really know us” we contemplate; because in our minds, if He knew the kind of limitations we have, he would gladly pass.
All through Exodus 4: 9, the Lord outlined to Moses the events that will happen in Egypt and what His counter reaction will be against Pharoah. Just when He finished, Moses complained, ” Oh Lord, i am not eloquent”. The Lord then asked ” who has made man’s mouth, who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind?” Is it not I the Lord?
Ponder over your life and ministry, what has been your excuse- Did you consider yet the nature and ability of God? Did you realise that once God says you MUST, it also means you can?
Next time the Word of the Lord comes to you, receive it in the light of His word not with your natural senses. For whenever He says “GO”, within that command is the power to neutralize every possible impediment that stands in the way. All He requires is your availability, the rest is His job.
Beloved, take a moment this morning and think about all the excuses you have given in the past regarding your walk with Him. Why is it difficult to trust that if God instructed, then it is His to bring to pass? Begin to pray with the hymn “Captain of Israel’s Host”. Receive strength from His grace. Your end is to the Glory of the Lord.
