Topic: Ephesusianism- Returning to our first love!
Text: Revelations 2: 4
Yet I hold this against you; You have forsaken your first love. Amen
When people (especially in their teen ages) fall in love for the first time it is serious! Everybody is wrong except for what they feel. They can literally run away from home just to be with their “lover”. They will do just about anything for the love relationship to work. And if it doesn’t they hurt more badly than they will ever be in any other love relationship to come. That kind of love experience is so intense such that they may never love anyone again so dearly. “First Love”!
Do you still remember the early part of your christian life or when you first gave your life to Jesus? Your zeal and passion for christ was recommendable, you loved the things of God so dearly. You fell so in love with this wonderful Man Jesus that you were more than eager to let the world know about your new found love.
But now, it seems you have “figured him” all out. You don’t really care anymore! Maybe He is boring, He is not as loving as He used to be, maybe He stopped caring for you, or perhaps He turned out a liar and there was no truth in the promises He gave you so you are don’t have cause to love Him as much.
BUT IF HE IS STILL THE LORD ALMIGHTY, WHOSE WAYS YOU CAN NOT COMPLETELY FIGURE OUT, IF HE IS STILL GOOD AND HAS REMAINED CARING AND FAITHFUL TO HIS PROMISES, THEN IT IS YOU WHO IS BACKSLIDING AND BEING UNFAITHFUL. Let us rise up and return to our earlier LOVE!
What are we returning to? We are returning in repentance to a daily love relationship with our Lord; to being commited and consistent in prayer, fasting, bible study, obedience, evangelism and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost.
Modernity and advancement can’t take the place of Jesus in our lives. Return to your first love now! Begin to Pray your way back to God!
