Topic: Don’t Get Used To Their Weapons!
Text: Matt 26: 51-52
With that, one of Jesus’ companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. “Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. Amen
The world has its own weapons of warfare. Nations have heavy armour, artillery, chemical or nuclear weapons and powerful ammunitions for mass destruction.
Individuals resort to weapons of revenge such as insults, curses, sarcasm, swearing, arrogance, backbiting, pride and the likes to establish their cases.
When Nations and individuals employ the usage of these weapons, they do so with the hope that these weapons will completely silence their “opposers” and give them a lasting victory.
However, our situation is different, for though we are in this world, we are told in the scripture that we are not of it. We ought not learn the usage of the weapons of the world nor become familiar with them.
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in the pulling down of strongholds. We win our victories on our knees. We fight hatred by demonstrating love. We fight the proud by exhibiting humility. We fight curses with words that edify, for life and death lies in the power of the tongue and those who love it will eat its fruit.
King Saul had an armour so heavy that young David couldn’t walk freely in it to fight Goliath. Yet Saul and all the other armoured soldiers with him were hiding away from Goliath and hid in caves. This tells us we cannot get used to the “weapons of the world” nor depend on them.
Begin to pray now, win all your battles on your knees every dawn. Be full of the Holy Ghost, Be like Jesus, Face the day! Victory is automatically assured.
