Topic: Do Good!
Text: 2 Samuel 19: 31-33
Barzillai the Gileadite also came down from Rogelim to cross the Jordan with the king and to send him on his way from there. Now Barzillai was very old, eighty years of age. He had provided for the king during his stay in Mahanaim, for he was a very wealthy man. The king said to Barzillai, “Cross over with me and stay with me in Jerusalem, and I will provide for you.” Amen
King David had some serious crisis in His palace. His own blood Absalom had organised a successful coup d’etat and now the king had become a fugitive.
David and His men ran through towns and villages far from Jerusalem to escape from Absalom and His men. To this point, David the king had been reduced to nothing.
As the king got to Mahanaim, a wealthy man called Barzillai took care of him till it was time to move on. Fortunately, Absalom fell and all Israel wanted David reinstated. Returning to his palace, David asked Barzillai (now 80yrs) to come with him to be catered for. By this invitation it is obvious Barzillai would definitely benefit far more than he had offered the king.
Beloved, let us not grow weary in doing good. Anyone who does anything good for a neighbour actually lends to God and will be rewarded in due time.
Also remember to be impartial when doing good, for you’ll never know who among the many beneficiaries will provide for you at 8O.
What do you have that you did not receive? It is just by grace. Click and be blessed: https://youtu.be/JmFUErUxsXc
