Topic: Divine Strength!
Text: Deuteronomy 33: 24- 25
24 About Asher he said: “Most blessed of sons is Asher; let him be favored by his brothers, and let him bathe his feet in oil. 25 The bolts of your gates will be iron and bronze, and your strength will equal your days. Amen
Precious One, you will agree that the natural strength of living things gradually declines with the increase of our days; such that it gets to a point where there’s little or no strength to do much for ourselves. Those who take good care of themselves through healthy eating and exercises, often remain stronger compared to those who live carelessly and ask for more of everything. That’s how God designed it to be.
However, Moses’ blessing of Asher, reveals another kind of strength different from the natural one we know. He said “YOUR STRENGTH WILL EQUAL YOUR DAYS”. This simply means although everyone relying on natural strength is expected to grow weaker with time, Asher was to be endowed with the kind of strength that does not fade till his earthly assignment was done. This kind is called DIVINE STRENGTH! It does not depend on, neither is it limited by the conditions (of age, choices and lifestyle) that restrict our natural strength.
It is the same kind of strength Moses possesed that enabled him lead God’s people till he was 120 years. The same kind of strength made it possible for Sarah to give birth without struggle at the age of 90. Elijah could also outrun the chariots of Ahab by the same anointing; while enabling Samson to kill a lion with his bare hands.
When the Psalmist would explain the secret to his great optimism about the future, he said “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever” (Ps 73: 26). This explains that, natural strength may fail but divine strength does not. It takes its source directly from God, unto eternity.
Those blessed with divine strength do more in a little time. They also do much when others have done too little. They keep going when all else are tired and worn. They defy the limits of their age and gender to cover extraordinary hieghts that the mighty falcon does not dare. They run the race of time and never get tired, they walk and do not faint.
They survive without food or abundance, and do equally great when there is the supply. Their hearts and conscience are focused on pleasing God and pursuing His will, so He grants them more strength every day. Rest, meditation on the word, prayer, a good heart and a clear conscience is all they need to be revive this strength for another day’s work and distance to cover. The bolts of the gates (ie health: joints, bones, teeth, etc), is solid; made of iron and bronze. Now if that is not a blessing then what is?
Meditate on this word and begin to pray. Ask the Lord to strengthen you from on high with DIVINE STRENGTH THAT EQUALS YOUR DAYS. STRENGTH FOR EACH DAY’S ASSIGNMENT. STRENGTH TO CARRY OTHERS WHO ARE WEAK ALONG THE PATH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS. STRENGTH TO KEEP SAYING ‘NO’ TO SIN AS YOU PURSUE GOD’S AGENDA FOR YOUR LIFE.
Strength that makes you most blessed of sons. One who is favoured by his brothers. One who bathes his feet in oil. One whose gates are made of iron and bronze. ONE WHOSE WAYS PLEASE THE LORD.
