Decide Ahead!

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Decide Ahead!
Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:18

“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” Amen!

Have you ever said to yourself, “I’d be happy if…”? Maybe you’re thinking, “I’d be happy if my spouse treated me better.” “I’d be happy if my boss moved to another planet.” “I’d be happy if I didn’t have to sit in traffic every day.” If you are thinking those thoughts, then you are allowing what you can’t control to sour your life.

You have to change your approach.
At the first part of the day, before you get out of bed, make the decision that no matter what comes your way, you are not going to get upset. No matter what somebody says, you’re not going to be offended. No matter what interruption or delay, you’re not going to be sour rather give thanks.

The key is to decide ahead of time. Then when things happens, when traffic is worse than normal, when your children forget their homework at school, or when your plans don’t work out, it’s no big deal. You’ve already decided that “this is the day the Lord has made.”

You see, if anything good or bad happened to us, God allowed it is for a reason! It may not necessarily have come from Him (sometimes is an attack from Satan or our own mistake) but He allows it so we can learn from them virtue and rely totally on HIM.

He never permits temptations we cannot bear, there is always a way of escape. Even where our own negligence or disobedience makes us fall short or His glory, He is faithful to forgive us and make all things work together for our GOOD!

Friend, you have blamed God for far too long, now is the time to start giving thanks. Don’t wait till you’re in the heat of the battle. Decide ahead of time to give thanks to God in all things that happen to you each day, knowing that is the will of God for your life. A grateful heart is a joyous life!

It’s another Sunday. Let’s put on garment of praise with a heart of gratitude and meet at church. No matter the circumstances, our God is greater and knows all things. He alone is worthy of thanksgiving. See you at church.

NB: 20 days to 4JBAND’S Moriah Praise at Achimota mall. 3pm sharp. Come let’s meet Jesus together. It will be awesome.
