Topic: Continue To Prove Jesus In Your Life!
Text: Acts 9: 19b- 22.
19b Saul spent several days with the disciples in Damascus. 20 At once he began to preach in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God. 21 All those who heard him were astonished and asked, “Isn’t he the man who raised havoc in Jerusalem among those who call on this name? And hasn’t he come here to take them as prisoners to the chief priests?” 22 Yet Saul grew more and more powerful and baffled the Jews living in Damascus by proving that Jesus is the Christ. Amen.
Beloved, Saul who later became Paul was no friend to Christianity at all. He joined in the persecution of the early church and had many arrested and others killed just for mentioning the name of Jesus. While a godly man called Stephen was being stoned to death for believing in Christ, “Saul was there, giving approval to his death” (Acts 8: 1).
One day, on his way to Damascus to breath out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples, a light from heaven flashed around him. It was Jesus revealing Himself to Saul. The encounter was not just to convert Saul but also to commission him immediately as a bond servant and preacher of the same faith he had condemned.
Right after his conversion, Saul spent several days with the disciples in Damascus and begun to preach in the synagogues that Jesus is the son of God. All who heard him were astonished and tried to link his past to him. Yet Saul GREW MORE AND MORE POWERFUL BY PROVING THAT JESUS IS THE CHRIST!
Now you see that you are not the only one whose past is used as a yard stick to measure the Christianity you now profess. Especially when people refuse to acknowledge your conversion as a genuine act of repentance but would rather mock your life saying, “see that sinner (liar, prostitute, armed robber) now claiming to be in Christ”.
As if to say it is impossible for Jesus Christ to transform even the vilest sinner to a child of God. They did the same to Saul, but he could not be deterred. The Holy Ghost continued to teach him till he grew stronger and stronger, proving that Jesus is the Messiah both in action and word.
Beloved, maybe it’s time to shift your focus from what people are saying about your new found life in Christ and allow the Lord to impart you to grow in Him. Then with your life, word and deed, prove to the whole world that JESUS IS LORD and the SAVIOUR OF ALL WHO WILL BELIEVE.
Meditate on this word and begin to pray. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you to pray, fast, study the Word, understand and obey it; so you can continue to grow stronger in the things of God – totally forsaking the shame of your past life and clinging unto Christ, the author and finisher of our faith.
Your life must prove Jesus as Lord and Saviour to all others whose lives need the salvation of God. That should be more important to you than worrying about those who doubt your salvation. What do you think?
