Text: Ecclesiastes 7:8
The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride. Amen.
In Ezekiel 18:20, the Bible makes it clear how every individual is responsible for his or her own salvation; saying “The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself”.
There is yet to be a scenario, if there ever will be, where one person eats and another gets satisfied in his/her place. Or better still, there is yet to occur a phenomenon (if such a time will ever come) where one person takes medication on behalf of a sick person and the sick person recovers instead.
It goes to show how no person can take responsibility for another. It further proves how the righteousness of one’s parents, friends, group, association or relatives can not automatically quality nor sustain another for righteousness.
So Apostle Paul in his letter to the Philippians wrote, “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed–not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence–continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling – Philippians 2:12.
His appeal to the people he had just departed from, was to hold onto the faith they had come to know concerning our Lord Jesus Christ.
So today, before we step out, let us do a quick assesment concerning our love for God and our salvation in Him through Christ Jesus. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent. (Revelations 2:5).
