Compel Them To Come!

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Compel Them To Come!
Text: Luke 14: 23

Then the master told his servant ‘Go into the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house may be full. Amen

Evangelism and soul winning are used interchangeably in that, the former begins the process and the latter is the end result. Evangelism is the act of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ by public preaching or personal witness. Soul winning is the purpose/aim of evangelism. It involves the transference of people from the kingdom of this world to the kingdom of light through Christ Jesus.

Evangelism therefore is good but not an end in itself. The ultimate goal of evangelising is to win a soul for Jesus Christ.
The question is; “to what extent are we fulfilling this great commission?”

We tend to patronize gospel rock shows, drama and choreography, picnics, love feasts and all other church activities which are relevant to enhancing fellowship and making church lively. However less attention has been given to the major assignment of evangelizing to the lost.

In this parable, Jesus admonishes us to go all out and draw the lost into His kingdom by all means possible. To compel means to give enough reason for a person to do a thing or another. In this context, it may involve regular calls, visits, texts, chats, begging, ironing shirts or polishing shoes for the soul you want to pull to the Lord’s side.

Beloved, there is a feast Jesus prepares for us always when we fellowship. Unfortunately, there aren’t enough guests to attend the occasion. He is therefore urging us to go to the streets, road side, highways, and bring those who are dwelling in darkness into His glorious light.

Why don’t you reach out to those family members and friends who do not know Christ. Tell them about the love of God, the sinful nature of man, the need for a savior, the sacrifice of Christ for the redemption of the soul, and God’s free gift of salvation to all who believe and accept the Lord Jesus into their hearts.

Teach them to believe with their hearts and confess with their lips that Jesus is Lord. Encourage them to attend a bible believing Church, where the Pastor can both baptize and disciple them for Christ.

Beloved, the fields are white but the laborers are few. Begin to pray for the grace that transforms ordinary people into FISHERS OF MEN. If it is true (and it is), that there’s joy in heaven when a sinner gives his heart to the Lord, then may that same level of joy reflect in your own life with each soul you win for Jesus.
