Topic: Come Running!
Text: Hebrews 4: 16.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Amen.
Not quite sure where you have been or what you have done. But you know that sometimes, we go far, very far away from the fold of God. Just like the prodigal son who set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living (Luke 15:13b).
Other times too, we do many despicable things; the kind that even pagans do not tolerate (1 Cor 5: 1).
But sin is costly. It is impossible to live in sin and not fall short of the glory of God. Also impossible to dwell in sin and not open doorways into your life for demonic manipulations and attacks. So what happened was that those who were tired of living in sin, started making their way back home. Back to the loving arms of the Father who hates sin but loves and saves the sinner.
They discovered when they returned, that the Father was still in the throne room. As they panicked and made their way in, full of guilt and shame, they were told by the WORD OF GOD to enter the room rather BOLDLY to obtain mercy, because the throne was called the THRONE OF GRACE. The intercession of Jesus as He sits at the right hand of the Father makes this possible.
From this great throne, the Father forgives us of all our iniquities and purifies our unrighteousness. We also find grace to help us in times of need. Wow!
So, have things about the Father’s compassion changed in our day and time? The answer is “NO”. Is the Father still seated on the throne of grace? Yes! Does He still forgive and show mercy? Yes! Does He give grace to help us in times of need? Yes! Then what are you waiting for? Come running fast into the throne room of grace. Say it all to the Father; how far you went and the wild life you have lived. Plead forgiveness and be cleansed by the blood of the Lamb.
Don’t rush back out of the throne room after that; wait till you have received grace that would help you in times of need. Even still, refuse to go. It is better to make your dwelling in His presence and behold the beauty of our Lord. Those who do never struggle with sin nor the curse of sin anymore.
Tell this to all who have gone far and done “things”. It’s time to come home. To enter the throne room of grace to obtain mercy. Jesus is calling you… why don’t you come right in?
