Carried On Shoulders High

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Carried On Shoulders High
Text: Luke 15: 7

“I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” Amen!

The tax collectors and sinners were always gathering around to hear Jesus. But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, _“This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” So Jesus told them this parable: “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbours together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’_ (Luke 15: 1-6)

Beloved, this message may not be for the already saved except in their prayer and evangelism for lost souls to come home. But to the wanderer who strays so far from the salvation that has appeared to all men, this is a wake-up call; The Saviour is looking for you!

Like the good shepherd who refuses to go home with his ninety-nine sheep because he cares as much for the single one who is missing; Jesus is looking for you. It does not matter how far you have strayed or how dirty the stain of sin has made you. He has both the power and grace to forgive sin, and to cleanse from all unrighteousness.

Therefore, come out from hiding in caves and behind rocks just to conceal sin. His love for you keeps Him from condemning or giving up on you. His heart yearns for you to come back home. He is calling out for you through this devotion, calling out for you through the radio pastor, calling out for you through the words of the evangelist you hear in the bus, public square, market area and on the street.

Come out from sin and surrender your life to JESUS. When He has found you, He refuses that you walk in front of Him or by His side because the road is rough and long. He again refuses to chase you back where the ninety-nine are waiting; He knows you lack the strength to keep up.

Rather, HE WILL CARRY YOU ON SHOULDERS HIGH AND KEEP YOU CLOSE TO HIS HEART, LEST YOU STUMBLE AGAIN AND FALL. What a SAVIOUR!

Come running, come to JESUS if you do not have Him as Lord and personal Saviour. Pray this prayer: “LORD JESUS, I ADMIT THIS DAY THAT I AM A SINNER. I AM TRULY SORRY AND REPENT FROM ALL MY SINS. PLEASE FORGIVE ME AND RECEIVE ME ONCE AGAIN. I BELIEVE YOU DIED FOR MY SINS AND RESURRECTED SO THAT I MAY LIVE AGAIN. I THEREFORE INVITE YOU TO BE MY LORD AND PERSONAL SAVIOUR. I RENOUNCE MY PAST LIFE OF SIN AND DECLARE THAT I WILL WALK WITH YOU ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE. GRANT ME YOUR HOLY SPIRIT TO HELP ME OBEY YOUR WORD AND DO YOUR WILL FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. THANK YOU LORD, FOR YOUR LOVE AND FOR ACCEPTING ME AS YOUR OWN IN JESUS NAME. AMEN.”

If you prayed the prayer above, know that heaven is rejoicing over your decision. Look for a Bible believing church near you and talk to the Pastor about this. They will help you grow in the Lord till your life, testimony, prayers and evangelism inspires many other ‘gone-astrays’ to come home. Today is the day of salvation. Tomorrow, as we know, MAY NEVER COME!
