Blessings On Every Side

Topic: Blessings On Every Side
Text: Luke 15: 30- 31

30 “But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!” 31 “My son,” the father said, “you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.”

The blessing of the Lord maketh rich and He addeth no sorrow to it.” This supernatural blessing is expressed in every aspect of our lives; not just in monetary terms as we are often tempted to believe.

The blessing of God has 4 main manifestations:
i. Some blessings are obvious and tangible. Example, hitting one success after the other in a way that beats our comprehension. Normally, we feel those experiencing these kinds of blessings are the actually “BLESSED ONES”. However, that is not the case.

ii. Other blessings are more subtle. It is in the daily provisions and supply. Example; good health, passing very challenging exams with ease, always experiencing peace and joy. These blessings, those priceless ones, often go unnoticed because they are not tangible.

iii. There are yet some other blessings that are embedded in nature. Example; air, food, water, rain and other basic necessities of life. We often take these blessings for granted too, because we access them without struggle.

iv. The trials God allows us go through and the divine provisions He endow us with during such moments. These trying moments though challenging, are both wonderful in strengthening our faith and encourage our dependence on His word. The only problem is we often do not like such times for the most parts because they may be unpleasant.

You see, just like the eldest son of the rich man in our texts above, we often so easily forget the abundant provisions of God for our lives and end up desiring to be like others, especially those with more material riches than us.

This older son had not realised that abiding with the father simply qualified him as a candidate for every blessing the father had. He sees the joyful moment of the younger brother and wishes to be like him.

We have to learn to be appreciative of the daily provisions and blessings of God for our lives, and avoid comparing ourselves with others, for those we see and envy might not be enjoying as much as we think they are. They may just be wishing they had your life instead; one that was full of love and peace.

Remember; all the father has is yours. Begin to pray for the full manifestation of GOD’S blessing upon your own life. Also ask for a grateful heart; one that acknowledges God even for those ‘tiny’ blessings that seem insignificant. We are so blessed and must never fail to see that.

NB: Only 8Days To 4JBAND’s Harel Concert ooo. So much prayer, consecration and hard work has gone into the making of Harel. Now it is your turn: Kindly prepare your heart for worship, your mind to be renewed by the word, your lips for the kind of praise the spring from within and your feet for dancing. It will marvelous and your life will never be the same.
