Topic: Be Careful You Don’t Stray!
Text: Proverbs 27: 8
Like a bird that strays from its nest, so is a man who strays away from his home. Amen
The safest place for a bird to be is in its nest. In that same manner, we, as humans have our safety located nowhere else but in the will and shelter of our fathers’ love and grace for us.
Sometimes when we find ourselves in situations and circumstances that seem too harsh for us, and we think and feel we have been neglected by our Father, it pays that we take a moment and ask ourselves if we are still located in the place He put us, in His HOME.
This is not to say that in our Father’s home, we are free from persecution and trials, but in His Home, we are assured that we would not have to go through this persecutions and trials all by ourselves. He will walk us through it right by our side. How comforting it is to know that you are not alone.
Like the prodigal son who left home, if you have completely swayed from God and find yourself in a strange land, with strange people, doing strange things; don’t dwell a second more… COME RUNNING TO JESUS. Why should you waste your life away in darkness? Why have you allowed Satan to fill your heart with perversion, evil passions, lust and pride so that you spend eternity in hell? Arise, shake off the dust and make your way home.
You who are in church but sliding off gradually, come back to prayer and fasting, come back bible study and fellowship. It doesn’t matter how far you have strayed. It doesn’t matter how shameful you think coming back to your Father’s home is going to be. It doesn’t matter who will grumble and talk at your return.
What matters is that your Father is awaiting your return, an opportunity to make merry in your name, to reinstate you into that place of peace and joy, your rightful place in Christ Jesus. What else could we ask for?
Begin to pray now as you sing the hymn: “Just as I am without one plea…oh Lamb of God, I come, I come”.
