Topic: Are You Blinded Too?
Text: 2 Corinthians 4: 4
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. Amen
Undoubtedly, a number of things have become common place in today’s highly technological world. It is unfortunate that most of us — believers and unbelievers alike — have become blinded to the schemes of the devil. We no longer see the glorious light that the gospel brings us, and we are losing sight of the consequence of sin.
Gradually, many of us have embraced practices and beliefs we used to detest. In a sermon, an international evangelist once said that “the 21st century man no longer knows what to laugh at and what to weep over; everything seems normal to him.”
In today’s society, unmarried people ‘co-habit’; married people keep concubines; businessmen are dishonest, the unemployed have to bribe their way into jobs, subordinates have to flirt with their bosses to get to the top; students often see questions before writing examinations; and the youth have no regard for the elderly.
There are self-styled pastors who settle for every ungodly act that promises more financial reward than their due. They are dealers, contractors, agents, middle and connection men of every sought and in every deal, good or bad.
In his letter to the Corinthian church, Paul says “I can hardly believe the report about the sexual immorality going on among you — something that even pagans don’t do. I am told that a man in your church is living in sin with his stepmother. You are so proud of yourselves, but you should be mourning in sorrow and shame…” (1 Cor. 5:1- 2)
Beloved, refuse to be blinded by the devil! Do not be controlled by sin anymore; there’s a very costly price to pay for that. Remember, the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life. For we were once darkness, but now we are light in the Lord! Let us live as children of light. (Ephesians 5: 8)
Begin to pray now, ask God to remove every blindfold that keeps you in sin without remorse. Always remember that those “who with unveiled faces reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever- increasing glory” (2 Corinthians 3: 18a). They shall be like Him when the Lord appears. Why should you look any different?
