An Encounter With Divine Destiny.

Topic: An Encounter With Divine Destiny.
Text: 1 Sam 9: 23- 24

23 And Samuel said to the cook, “Bring the portion I gave you, of which I said to you, ‘Put it aside.’” 24 So the cook took up the leg and what was on it and set them before Saul. And Samuel said, “SEE, WHAT WAS KEPT IS SET BEFORE YOU. Eat, because IT WAS KEPT FOR YOU UNTIL THE HOUR APPOINTED, that you might eat with the guests.” So Saul ate with Samuel that day. Amen.

One day, Kish the Benjamite sent his son Saul and servant to go searching for his missing donkeys. The two combed everywhere possible to no avail until Saul said to the servant, “Come, let’s go back, or my father will stop thinking about the donkeys and start worrying about us”.

But the servant replied, “look, in this town there is a man of God: he is highly respected, and everything he says comes true. Let’s go there now. PERHAPS HE WILL TELL US WHAT WAY TO TAKE.” Saul said to the servant, “If we go, what can we give the man? The food in our sacks is gone. We have no gift to take to the man of God. WHAT DO WE HAVE?”

The servant answered him again. “Look, I have a quarter of a shekel of silver. I will give it to the man of God so that he tells us what way to take.” (1 SAM 9: 6- 8).

Now the day before Saul came, the Lord had revealed to Samuel: “Tomorrow about this time I will send to you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to be prince over my people Israel. He shall save my people from the hand of the Philistines.

For I have seen my people, because their cry has come to me.” When Samuel saw Saul, the Lord told him, “Here is the man of whom I spoke to you! He it is who shall restrain my people.” Then Saul approached Samuel in the gate and said, “Tell me, where is the house of the Seer?”

Samuel answered Saul, “I am the Seer. Go up before me to the high place, for today you shall eat with me, and in the morning I will let you go and will tell you all that is on your mind. As for your donkeys that were lost three days ago, do not set your mind on them, for they have been found. And for whom is all that is desirable in Israel? Is it not for you and for all your father’s house?”

Saul answered, “Am I not a Benjamite, from the least of the tribes of Israel? And is not my clan the humblest of all the clans of the tribe of Benjamin? Why then have you spoken to me in this way?” Then Samuel took Saul and his young man and brought them into the hall and gave them a place at the HEAD of those who had been invited, who were about thirty persons.

That is how God does ‘His things’, Beloved. In one moment, Saul is only the son of Kish going after their missing donkeys, in the next he is seated as Head of dignitaries and later anointed King of Israel.

From a humble background, he had never thought of reaching such heights, but that’s how our God works. Thank God for the servant who supported him through the search and mentioned “the thing about a Seer” to him.

Thank God for the same who went further to offer his money on behalf of Saul so they could meet Samuel to tell them which way to go. Little did they know that the way to go was not back the same road they came nor as ordinary as they came, but straight to the palace as the chosen of God to lead Israel.

Beloved, there could be a divine reason why ‘the donkeys are missing.’ Even a much greater reason why you can’t seem to find them, and also why the food in your sack has run out due to the search. Don’t give up on God yet; don’t turn your back to Him. He may just be working out a glorious plan this whole time.

It is possible that last night, He revealed to someone to usher you into greatness and ordained your encounter with him/ her today as the divine doorway that should walk you into your divine purpose and destiny.

Begin to pray therefore, as we begin a new week today. Ask God to order your struggling steps to the right places to meet the right people and grant you favour before them; those He (God) has anointed and instructed to usher you up where you truly belong.

That meeting, ordinary as it may seem, will be your divine encounter with destiny- your life will never be the same in Jesus mighty name!
