Topic: An Encounter Or A Debate?
Text: John 9: 25
25 He replied, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know; I was blind but now I see!” Amen
Jesus had healed a man who was born blind and the Pharisees were having a difficult time understanding how this was possible in the first place. They called the hitherto blind man and asked how he had received his sight. “He (Jesus) put mud on my eyes,” the man replied, “and I washed, and now I see.”
Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for He does not keep the Sabbath.” But others asked, “How can a sinner perform such signs?” SO THEY WERE DIVIDED. Then they turned again to the blind man, “What have you to say about Him? It was your eyes He opened.” The man replied, “He is a prophet.” But they wouldn’t be easily persuaded.
After arguing for a while and interrogating the man’s parents for confirmation that he was born blind, they summoned him a second time and said to him “Give glory to God by telling the truth, We know this man (Jesus) is a sinner.” The man replied, “Whether He is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know; I once was blind but now I see!”
Beloved, what this man told the Pharisees is very profound. We sometimes get too religious that we miss the real encounter with God. See, as religious people sit all day debating on the person of Christ, they don’t realise the many blessings that could have been theirs if ONLY THEY WOULD PERSONALLY ENCOUNTER JESUS LIKE NICODEMUS DID.
The very same time they busily argue whether Jesus is of God or not, He (Jesus) is seen out there doing His work as God. “The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor” (Matthew 11: 5). In fact, to all who receive Him, He gives the power to become the children of God. What could be greater than this?
Everyone could argue about Jesus from dawn to dusk and that is their own issue. But to the blind man who received his sight after an encounter with Jesus, the matter is very simple. He had been blind, and now through Jesus, can see. Period!
What about you? As Jesus comes by your life today, will you miss out like the Pharisees did; taking pleasure in doubts, religious debates and unbelief than having a real encounter with Him? Or you will pray His mercies over you life, restoring anything that has been destroyed by the devil?
Meditate on this and begin to pray now. You don’t have to be blind forever. Jesus is here to do GOOD and to HEAL all that are oppressed of the devil. Surrender your life to Him right now. The Jesus encounter that will change your life is now, DON’T LET IT PASS YOU BY. See you at church. Kindly click, watch and be blessed: https://youtu.be/08skn37uqU0
