Topic: Acclaim The Lord!
Text: Psalm 89: 15a
Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you. Amen.
One day, the Psalmist took time to praise our Maker in the assembly of His people. He said to the Lord: “The heavens praise your wonders, LORD, your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones. For who in the skies above can compare with the LORD? Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings? In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; He is more awesome than all who surround him. Who is like you, LORD God Almighty? You, LORD, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you. You rule over the surging sea; when its waves mount up, you still them.
“Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, LORD. They rejoice in your name all day long; they celebrate your righteousness. For you are their glory and strength, and by your favour you exalt our horn.” (Psalm 89: 5- 9, 15- 17).
Beloved, to acclaim someone is to praise enthusiastically and publicly. And here, we are being encouraged to ACCLAIM THE LORD. THAT IS; TO LET THE WHOLE WORLD KNOW OF HIS EVERLASTING LOVE AND POWER. JUST AS THE VERY HEAVENS WHEREIN HE DWELLS PRAISE HIS WONDERS AND FAITHFULNESS IN THE ASSEMBLY OF THE HOLY ONES.
YOU SEE, THOSE WHO LEARN TO ACCLAIM OUR LORD, REJOICE IN HIS NAME ALL DAY LONG. FOR THE LORD BECOMES THEIR GLORY AND STRENGTH, AND HIS FAVOUR EXALTS THEIR HORN WHEREVER THEY GO. What a wonderful revelation this is, brethren!
You see, ours is not a closet religion or a secret cult. We serve a Living God who is too big to be kept hidden only within our hearts and minds without an attempt to let others know of His love, power and strength. The other day, when our Lord Jesus would teach us another basic spiritual truth that we should never overlook, He said, “Whoever acknowledges Me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.” (Matt 10: 32)
What are we waiting for, then? Let the praise begin right from your heart till others can identify the praise of our God in you. Acclaim Him to all nations. Tell of all His faithfulness and His love. Let all the world know that Jehovah is mighty to save.
Demonstrate, both by word and action, the praise of our God in the assembly of His people. Walk in the light of His presence and celebrate His righteousness. He will make His very dwelling in you and you will rejoice all day long. He will remain your glory and strength; and by His favour exalt your horn. Therefore, lift every praise to our God! He’s worthy!
