Today’s Devotion
Topic: A True Representative Of Christ!
Text: 1 Corinthians. 2: 4 & 5
4 And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit. 5 I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God. Amen
The Word of God gives a simple definition for every Christian as “God’s own possession; one who has been called from darkness into God’s wonderful light to declare His praise.” (1Peter 2:9). The truth is, the main reason why God keeps us on earth after our salvation is so we can know Him more intimately through His Son Jesus Christ and also proclaim Him to others for the salvation of their souls.
All believers have the onerous responsibility of representing the Lord Jesus Christ on earth. But care must be taken to make sure that we are pointing people to Christ Jesus, not ourselves. As people who have the privilege of demonstrating God’s love and power in a fallen world, there is the tendency to crave the attention, praise and glory which belong to God.
Apostle Paul was therefore careful not to use the enticing words of man to minister to God’s people. He spoke under the demonstration of the Power of the Holy Ghost so that His audience will trust in the power and abilities of God not human wisdom.
Beloved, how do you feel and what do you say when people praise you for a good job done, a touching sermon or powerful ministration? Do you let them know that every good and perfect thing they see in you is actually a gift from the Father of light above? (James 1: 17).
Christians are not to use cleverly woven words and schemes to:
i. win people’s admiration where they should be praising God
ii. draw attention on ourselves as though we own the power to minister
iii. manipulate people into doing what we desire and not what God says, or
iv. even get people into certain compromising positions making them susceptible to sin.
Ours is to avail ourselves for the Holy Spirit to use all we are and say to bring glory to Himself. No true ambassador ever seeks to become the focus of the country he resides and works in. Instead, he highlights his own country of origin; showcasing it in every positive way possible.
It is time therefore to turn the radar back unto God. Let people see your light and give ALL THE GLORY to your Father in heaven. He is the Savior, Deliverer and Healer, not you. Begin to pray now, ask for grace to remain the vessel that seeks to glorify God not self.
At the end of the day, both the minister and the audience must strive to have their names written in the Book of Life. That’s very important. Please Click and comment: https://youtu.be/6pcWIlEFP1Y
