Today’s Devotion
Topic: A Surety For Prosperity
Text: Joshua 1:8
Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Amen
The Christian’s God is the Creator of the entire universe, and the source of all true riches. The Scriptures actually point out that it isn’t out of place for a Christian to “prosper and be in good health.”
The Almighty God is not against our doing well in this life; rather He instructs that though unbelievers run after riches, we as Christians should seek first His Kingdom and righteousness, and all other things shall be added to us.
Today’s Scripture outlines a sure way to secure prosperity in this life;
1) Do not let the Word depart from your mouth: This means the Word of God must be an integral part of our conversations and confessions. It should always be the foundation of whatever we say. Those who desire the kind of prosperity the Lord gives must also be people who know and declare the Word over their lives.
2) You Must Meditate On It: This implies that the Word of God must be at the core of our thoughts and meditations. It should engage our minds without fail.
3) You Must Be careful to Do Everything Written in it: this means the Word of God must form the basis of our daily actions. We must observe to do what it says whether it’s favourable or not.
It is by these that our ways shall be secure and successful. Beloved, the next time you think of being successful at the dream you are pursuing, think of the best way to achieve that — the Word of God.
Begin to pray now. Remember those who meditate on the word and apply it to their lives shall be “like a tree planted by waters, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do shall prosper” (Psalm 1: 3). The Word of God is all you need for a fulfilled life. Abide in it!
