Text: Hebrews 11: 23
23 By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict. Amen
What wonderful parents Moses had. How could they tell even from a tender age that their son was not an ordinary child? Intriguing, isn’t it?
The author of Hebrews attributes this unique ability of identifying how special Moses was to the faith his parents had in God. They were convinced that God was never going to give them a child who was not blessed and favoured. Moses had spiritual and discerning parents. No wonder all three of their children (Miriam, Aaron and Moses) were specially chosen and anointed by God to serve in the highest places of honour.
What about you Precious One; how discerning are you concerning your children? Are they the nuisance that happened to your rather peaceful and quite life, or they are the obstruction that blocked the realisation of all your ambitions?
To many, the mere fact that a child makes petty mistakes is enough to see him/her as a huge burden that should have been done away with if it was possible. Others honestly hate the way their children look, act or behave; it reminds them so much of the “ex-spouse” who mistreated them.
Well, a child is a child! He/she remains silly and ignorant until you train them in the way that they should go. That way, when they grow, they don’t depart from it. (Prov 22:6) With dedicated time, love, patience and discipline, teach them to fear God and you would have given them wisdom to guide them throughout life. They will excel even when far from your watchful sight.
So go ahead, you can choose to be irresponsible with your children and blame them for every misfortune that happened to you. Another parent, who has faith in the Lord and is spiritually discerning, will see his/her child as a heritage and reward from the LORD. (Ps 127: 3)
Such exceptional parents can just tell from conception that their ward is NO ORDINARY CHILD, and as such, they will do everything to protect him/her from PHARAOH’S WICKED EDICT.
Begin to pray therefore. Repent from every insult and curse you have out of frustration rained on your children and any other dependents living under your roof. You have authority from God to bless them, why must you curse them instead?
Just as Isaac blessed Jacob, and Jacob in turn blessed his twelve sons, you too call out your children and wards by name; blessing every unique quality they posses into fruition through Christ. Do this wholeheartedly, even if you wish they were different from who they are showing signs of becoming as they grow in Christ. You do not know best, God does!
All who are yet to have children are encouraged to also pray for their unborn children anyway. Prayer never expires, it serves as a sweet fragrance before God. It will always be a necessary point of reference for your children’s deliverance in the day of trouble.
