Going The Extra Mile Text: Matthew 5:41 (NIV) 41
If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Amen This week is the extra mile week. Encourage yourself to go the extent you usually won’t go. The people that are going to be achieves are the same that denied themselves some pleasure and focused on the goal. They beat and discipline themselves to conform to the standards of the altitude they want to reach. They saw opportunities in the pressures their bosses and lecturers put them through. At the end of the day, they have achieved so much but are still striving to go the next mile. Simply because greatness is a seed, you can’t have it implanted in you and settle for less. Beloved, going the extra mile in your studies or job can be very tiring and annoying. But the scripture admonishes us it’s worth it once you can concentrate on the benefits of the sacrifice. Sometimes you will need an accomodative heart to tolerate the persecutions that comes with working or studying harder than the rest. This call to go the extra mile is not only applicable in academic related or work related situations, but in every aspect of our lives. For instance, we need to go the extra mile to forgive that person that really mistreated us (brother, sister, mother, father, boss, husband, wife, child, ex boyfriend or girlfriend). Love them, pray for them and do them good. We again have to go that extra mile like the Mecedonian church to give wholeheartedly, even if it is out of our severe trial and extreme poverty. And God will make all grace abound to us to abound in every good work. Pray for the Holy Spirit to help you go the extra mile in everything you do from this week onwards.
