35 Jesus wept. 36 Then the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” Amen.
Love can be expressed as a deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness. We all feel a sense of strong belonging when a person expresses love to us. We however express our love in four categories; to God, man, nature and our own self.
We demonstrate our love to God by honouring His commandments. We do so to prove that God is the giver of our lives and the reason of our living. We need to therefore keep loving Him because He first loved us even when we were sinners.
We again demonstrate our love to others by doing everything possible to bring them to the path of life when we find them on the path of death. We help bring GOOD into their lives by demonstrating the love of Christ. Romans 13: 8b says we should “Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another”.
We can further show our love to nature by taking good care of God’s creation such as the water bodies, plants and animals etc.
Finally, we demonstrate our love to our own self by seeking what is good and right for ourselves unselfishly.
We need to strive towards showing perfect love to all. Our Lord Jesus showed His love for Lazarus by shedding tears for his death. But since weeping was not enough to prove His love for the dead man Lazarus, He further had to speak THE WORD which brought him back to life.
As we demostrate love towards one another today, let us not forget to share the WORD OF CHRIST which giveth life also. And remember: love doesn’t mean sex, it means God (for God is Love), so dont abuse love to abuse GOD.
