“If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'” Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'” AMEN
Daily, believers and unbelievers alike quote portions of scripture that favour actions they take that does not fall in line with the word of God.
The interesting thing about the Bible is, there is a verse that seemingly supports every freewill action we take.
From the text above, it is evident that there was a scripture that supported what the devil said to Jesus.
So many of such verses exist and day in day out, the devil keeps reminding us of how it is written that we are permitted to do most things because we are the sons of God.
The devil reminds us of how it is written if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us. We close our conscience and sin against our maker and then go to ask for forgiveness for as many times we can remember.
The consequence of sin is to cut off our relationship with God. For that matter, although we receive pardon when we ask for forgiveness, continuous sin fustrates our walk with God and challenges our growth in Him. Due to this, it is also written: Shall we continue to sin because grace abounds? Certainly Not!
There is always an “IT IS ALSO WRITTEN” somewhere in the bible with which you can defeat the devil. Your job as a christian is to find it. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse good enough!
Pray that God inscribes His Word in your heart. That you will not sin against Him. Remember, it is always also written!
