Today’s Devotion
Topic: Worry Not!
(Self Assessment)
Background: The love of God can neither be measured nor even understood. He is so caring to provide for even the least of creatures that we think don’t deserve His attention.
Man, on the other hand, has insatiable needs and worries such that, at any given time, he cannot guarantee abundance or perfection for his ego, plan or pride.
That is where He is likely to turn to God for a miracle. He does that mostly when he has expectations that are not met. He worries the whole time about this until he sees a change in His circumstance.
Meanwhile, God requires something totally different from us believers. He wants us to seek Him first. He wants us to desire a relationship with Him. He wants us to seek Him not because of our wants, but because we want to know Him for who He is. Shall we humbly delve in today’s passage for more insight.
Text: Luke 12: 22-26, 29- 31
22 Then Jesus said to His disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.
24 Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? 26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?
…29 And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30 For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 But seek His kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. Amen
