Topic: Have A Relationship With Him!
Text: Acts 19: 11 – 16
11 God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, 12 so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them.
13 Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, “In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.”
14 Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. 15 One day the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?”
16 Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding. Amen
God did extra-ordinary miracles through Apostle Paul because he had a relationship with Him. Some of the Jews who would not take time to know Jesus for themselves also tried to invoke the name of Jesus, saying “in the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out”. No wonder the evil spirit replied and said; “Jesus I know, Paul I know, but who are you? And went ahead to beat the “day light” out of them.
There is Power in the name of Jesus. To access this Power, we need to have a relationship with Him. Hiding behind the our Pastors and leaders to access God’s power will never work.
It is not a magical name we can invoke through others. It is the NAME GIVEN TO ALL WHO BELIEVE, BY WHICH WE CAN BE SAVED. The power in the name of Jesus is not in the anointing oil you bought at church or the water the Bishop blessed for your use. IT IS IN THE RELATIONSHIP YOU HAVE WITH HIM.
If you want to see the miraculous happen in your life, build a strong relationship with the Lord. One of personal devotion and total surrender; consistency in prayer and bible study; humility and love. Then you shall receive POWER to command all things (every problem and challenge) to the obedience of Christ.
Now begin to pray. Command the devil out of your life because you have a personal relationship with Jesus. The Lord is your strength and song. He has become your SALVATION.
