Take Heart, But Strive On!

Topic: Take Heart, But Strive On!
Text: Hebrews 12: 4

4 In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. Amen

For as long as we remain on this earth, trials, tribulations and temptations of all kinds will beset us. We are constantly faced with various categories of sin that may easily entangle us.

The truth is that by the death of Christ on the cross, all who believe in Him and accept His Lordship have been set free from the power of sin. But daily, we are faced with choices and circumstances that seek to prove our loyalty to either Christ or the sin that once held us bound.

At times, a number of us, after ‘struggling’ with a particular sin for what seems like a very long period of time, throw in the towel and resign to our ‘fate as sinners’. This should not be so! At some point, we even quote Paul saying, “I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do–this I keep on doing” (Romans 7:19)

Truly, none of us (alive) has struggled with any sin to the point of shedding our blood; so we can take heart and strive on! The daily battle against sin can be very frustrating, but this is what the Word of God says:

“…let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.” (Hebrews 12:1-4)

Beloved, take heart; do not give up; strive on; make every conscious effort to please God in all your endeavours and not give the devil a foothold. “Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” (1 Peter 5:9).

Begin to pray your weaknesses to Jesus right now. Ask for grace to remain in His righteousness. Always remember that those “born of God overcome the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith” (1 John 5: 4). Kindly click, watch and be blessed: https://youtu.be/h0z64IiuciE
