Worthy Is The Lamb!

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Worthy Is The Lamb!
Text: Revelations 5: 12

12 In a loud voice they were saying:“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” Amen

Man, with all the sophistication and experience, could not help himself when it comes to sin. His “Adamic” nature made him a sinner from birth. He had become a slave to the sin that had him bound and absolutely stood accused of its guilt and shame.

If the atonement of sin could be purchased with money, imagine what its price would be. We all know that sin itself remains very expensive, its wages is death. How much money therefore would have been enough to pay for it completely? Even the richest man on earth could never afford it in a life time. Man needed a saviour, One who is able to pay this huge debt he owed and give him a chance to live again.

Divinity’s response to this misery and helplessness of man is JESUS, the Nazarene. “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” (1 Peter 2: 24). WHAT A GOD!

He paid the highest price of sin and went on to disarm death. He is not the God who imposes and demands worship from us, HE IS THE GOD WHO EARNS OUR WORSHIP. THAT IS WHY WE SAY HE IS WORTHY.

John the “revelator” said “I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. And when he had taken it, they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.” (Rev. 5: 6- 10). Halleluyah!

Come from your heart this day, and let your worship be real, not out of compulsion. For “Were the whole realm of nature mine, That were a present far too small; Love so amazing, so divine, Demands my soul, my life, my all” (Hymm: Isaac Watts, When I Survey). Begin to pray.
