Today’s Devotion
Topic: He is Sovereign!
Text: Job 41: 11 (NIV)
Who has a claim against me that I must pay? Everything under heaven belongs to me. Amen
The text shows God’s sovereignty over EVERYONE and EVERYTHING. You see, there are times we feel God has been unfair to us one way or the other. Our prayers to Him are full of indirect accusations as we compare our lives with that of others. The very blessing we need appears to be in abandance for others who do not even want it. We rudely question God as though He owed us that duty and has has looked on unconcerned.
Is God ever indebted to anyone? The answer is NO! He is sovereign, He does what He pleases, yet all He does is Good. We may not fully understand Him now but we will by and by.
King David basically understood that all he had was a privilege and not a right. He said ‘who am I, Sovereign Lord, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? In other words, we are nothing except what God says we are. It is rather a great privilege that we are called the CHILDREN OF GOD!
Situations occur that challenge the very essence of our Christianity. Wars, famine, disease, strife, pain, misery and suffering. Yet these don’t make God any less of Himself nor go to prove He doesn’t care for us.
One day Mrs Job was fed up with the misery her husband was going through. She said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die!” Job replied, “You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” In all this, Job did not sin in what he said. (Job 2: 9- 10)
God, at the end of creation saw all that He had made, and it was very Good. Beloved, that includes you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made for God’s pleasure and glory. You are not forgotten. He didn’t bring you this far only to let you down. Don’t begrudge God for your storm, PRAISE HIM through it. He is sovereign, He knows what He’s doing. His mighty power is working all things for your good. Begin to pray now. Kindly click, watch and be blessed: https://youtu.be/T4tDwf2HfqY
