While You Wait.

Topic: While You Wait.
Text: 1 Samuel 1: 2

He had two wives; one was called Hannah and the other Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah had none. Amen

Most of us are familiar with the story of Hannah. Elkanah had two wives; Hannah and Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah had none. Every year, when they went to Shiloh to pray, Peninnah mocked Hannah of her inability to have children.

The bible accounts that, on one of such visits, Hannah prayed intensely till Eli (the Priest) thought she was drank. When he realised it was sorrow that made her pray in anguish and not wine, Eli blessed her saying, “Go in peace and may the God of Israel grant your petition” (1 Samuel 1:17). After sometime she bore a son, Samuel and offered him for ministry just as she promised God she would.

The word of God encourages us to learn the act of waiting on the Lord. The question is: What must we do while we wait? Here are a few considerations from the “Hannah story”:

1. DO NOT FORSAKE FELLOWSHIP:
When lions go hunting, they target the weak, young, wounded prey or prey that have strayed from the herd.

Hannah never stopped going with the family to Shiloh even though God had not answered her prayers yet and Penninah was still at her worse. When you stop fellowshipping with the people of God because you feel disappointed, the devil finds that as a great chance to crush you. (read: Hebrews 10: 25)

2. APPRECIATE THE BLESSINGS OF GOD:
Despite the fact that Hannah did not have a child, God still made Elkanah love her more than Peninnah. While you await your blessings from God, never overlook the many other blessings He offers you daily. Many people wished they were in your shoes. (read: Psalm 103: 2)

3. PRAY FERVENTLY:
In her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the Lord, weeping bitterly. When she bore her son, she named him Samuel, saying, “Because I asked the Lord for him.” (1 Sam. 1:10, 20). (read: James 5: 16, 1 Thessalonians 5: 7, Matthew 17: 21).

4. HONOR YOUR VOW: Some of us are moved to make vows and commitments to the Lord while we wait for the promise to be fulfilled. Do well to fulfil your vow. It honors the Lord. (read: Ecclesiastes 5: 4).

Remind all believers that “all who wait upon the Lord, shall renew their strength (Isaiah 40: 31). Begin to pray now. Ask for patience to wait for your promise. Remember, it is in HIS TIME, not ours, that all things are made beautiful. HE IS FAITHFUL TO HIS WORD! Watch and be blessed: https://youtu.be/zAC9mrptnK0
