Topic: Ancient of Days
Text: John 8: 58
58 “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” Amen
One day Jesus revealed a fundamental truth that greatly displeased the Jews. They had had more than they could bear with Him. He exposed the hypocrisy in their claim to be children of Abraham when as a matter of fact, they “belonged to their father, the devil”, because they have hated the truth. (John 8: 44- 47)
Then He went on to say; “very truly I tell you, whoever obeys my word will never see death.” They exclaimed, “now we know that you are demon-possessed! Abraham died and so did the prophets, yet you say that whoever obeys your word will never taste death. Are you greater than our father Abraham? He died, and so did the prophets. Who do you think you are?” (John 8: 52-53)
Jesus decides at this point to reveal His identify as God. He replied them, “your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad.” Then they asked Him, “you are not yet fifty years old and you have seen Abraham!” “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I AM!” At this, they picked up stones to stone him,but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds” (John 8: 56-59)
Beloved, can we all see how right the Lord is in saying they didn’t want to hear truth? Just when He revealed His identity, they wanted Him dead. But you see, everything Jesus says is TRUE- HE IS THE TRUTH.
It is true that He was with the Father from the very beginning. Through Him all things were made. Without Him, nothing was made that is made. It is true that He reigned as God, long before Adam, Noah, Abraham and Jacob were born; and still reigns today till forever ends and starts all over again.
He presided over the exodus from Egypt to the promise Land. He is the “fourth man who appeared with the three Hebrew boys in the furnace”. HE IS THE ONE WHO WAS, AND STILL IS, AND IS TO COME. HE IS THE ANCIENT OF DAYS.
Do not fret or worry anymore. Your situation is not new to Him. He saw it when you were born and was by your side all those days you felt all alone. If you give Him a chance today- He will walk with you through this life and give you THE BLESSING of spending eternity with HIM. He Changeth Not! Begin to pray now! Just surrender your all to Him.
After this, start preparing and let’s meet at church. The Ancient of Days will show up in the assembly of the saints, full of grace, compassion, power, love, healing, strength and every good thing our heart desires. Be ready to meet Him.
