Knowing Him

Today’s Devotion
Topic: Knowing Him
Text: Philippians 3: 7- 8

7 But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ. Amen

Let us name them one after the other and compare with Christ: academic qualifications, career achievements, material possession and a “fat” bank account. Juxtapose these with the worth of knowing Christ and you can easily tell He has great eternal value.

The many things we hold dear and build our lives upon, all this world reveres and wars to own, all that One may gain in a lifetime CAN NEVER compare with the mysteries of life to be discovered in Christ.

Paul, an apostle of the gospel, a learned man by all standards. One who considered himself in 1 Corinthians 4: 1, as a servant of Christ and a trustee of the secret things of God, gladly pushed aside all “intellectualism” for the surpassing knowledge of knowing Christ. He considered them garbage so that He may gain Christ.

The question really is this: What is the value of Christ then? Revealed to us as God the Son, He is of the Trinity, the One who walked on earth to show us the way back to the Father. He was with the Father from the beginning. Through Him all things were made; without Him, nothing was made that has been made (John 1: 2-3).

He is above all in all things and in all ways as Saviour, Deliverer, Healer, Comforter and the soon coming King. He is the way, the truth and the life; the light of the world who shines in darkness- the darkness can not comprehend.

His depth is unsearchable, His wisdom- immeasurable. His Power is supreme, His Word is True. HE IS JESUS- the only name given to us by which we might be saved.

Why won’t you know Him more today than you did yesterday? He is more than we say He is. Offer to know the power of His “RISEN LIFE”, and then know Him in His suffering too. Make it your desire to be found in Him and known as His. To possess by faith in Him all that you could not earn.

Meditate on this word and pray that you may know Him and the power of His resurrection! Watch and be blessed: https://youtu.be/iUgO9TNlx5A
