Excuses To The Call!

Topic: Excuses To The Call!
Text: Exodus 4: 10- 11

10 Then Moses said to the Lord, “O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” 11 So the Lord said to him, “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord? Amen

If God could ‘suffer’ any terrible fate, it would be the excuses we give Him day and night. He is the Almighty, the One who knows about the End right from the Beginning. Yet when He instructs, we often doubt our ability to measure up to His Word and immediately feel He’s making a mistake.

Mostly we keep asking for a word from Him; to keep us in His will and to show the way. However, just when He commands, we have a tall list of excuses why it is a wrong decision for Him to choose us. “Maybe He doesn’t really know us” we explain. For to us, if He knew the kind of limitations we had, he would gladly pass.

All through Exodus 4: 9, the Lord outlined to Moses the events that will happen in Egypt and what His counter reaction will be against Pharoah. Just when He finished, Moses complained, ” Oh Lord, i am not eloquent”. The Lord then asked ” who has made man’s mouth, who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind?” Is it not I the Lord?

Ponder over your life and ministry, what has been your excuse- Did you consider yet the nature and ability of God? Did you realise that once God says you MUST, it also means you CAN?

Next time the Word of the Lord comes to you, receive it in the light of His word not with your natural senses. For whenever He says “GO”, within that command is the power to neutralize every possible impediment that stands in the way. All He requires is your availability, the rest is His job.

Beloved, take a moment this morning and think about all the excuses you have given in the past. Why is it difficult to trust that if God instructed then it is His to bring to pass? “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose (Romans 8: 28).

“For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified. (Romans 8: 29- 30)

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all—how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8: 31- 32) No more excuses brethren. Begin to pray with the hymn “Captain of Israel Host”. Receive strength from His grace. Your end is to the Glory of the Lord. See you at church.
