Topic: The VALUE Of The Vessel Is The OIL!
Text: 2 Kings 4: 3- 4
Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.” Amen
A widow of a prophet had gone to Elisha for help. Her need was that, her husband, a prophet, did not settle the debts he owed before he died and for that reason, the creditor was coming for her sons to work for years as slaves.
“What do you have in your house?”, he asked. “Just a little oil”, she answered. So Elisha asked her to collect emptys jars from her neighbors, as many as she could collect and fill them with the little oil she had.
When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.” But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing. She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.”
The oil, just like the power of God, never ceases to flow until there are no more people to fill. Notice how the prophet instructed the woman to go for empty jars. In like manner, for the spirit of God to fill us, we need to empty ourselves of pride, bitterness, fornication, unforgiveness and all forms of sins detestable to the Holy Lord.
The jar owners only released them because the jars were free and available for use. For the annointing of God to come upon us, we will have to declare our availability for His work. In our world today, everybody is busy. We don’t have time for reading the Word; no time for prayer: fellowship; evangelism; nothing at all.
Remember beloved, it is the oil that gave the jars a price value. It is also the spirit of God that can add value to your life. Begin to pray now. Ask the Lord to fill your vessel once again. Click: https://youtu.be/1JwVmrLkhcw
